The Elementary A volume introduces staccato and legato playing, parallel and contrary motion, balance between melody and accompaniment, two-note, three-note, and phrase groups of different lengths, broken chord accompaniment, legato thirds, different articulations in each hand, and canonic imitation. Pieces are in the keys of C major, A minor, G major, E minor, and F major.
